Frequently asked questions about tutoring:

  • "Is there a tutor in my area?" Check the class location page. We have tutors available in the locations indicated.
  • "How is it scheduled?" The program totals 15 hours of tutoring. The typical schedule is 6-8 sessions, averaging 2 hours each. Meeting durations can be made longer to accommodate your schedule. Most tutorings are start 4-8 weeks prior to the LSAT. You and your tutor decide on a tentative schedule before you begin your meetings.
  • "How soon can I start?" Once you place your order, a tutor will contact you within 2-3 days. After you confirm that your schedules are compatible, our central office will process your payment and mail your books to the tutor. Allow a few days for delivery. Also, you will need to complete four hours of on-line diagnostic testing before your first meeting.
  • "Where do tutoring sessions meet?" Again, flexibility is the major benefit of tutoring. You and your tutor decide where would be the best location to meet. Usually, since the student and/or the tutor are on or near a campus, sessions meet in campus libraries or similar study locations.
  • "Do I have to pay before talking to the tutor?" No, but we must have your order and payment information on file before a tutor can contact you. You first place an order, including your payment information. A local tutor will contact you within two business days to discuss schedules and locations. If you and the tutor agree to proceed, then your credit card will be charged.
  • "What if I decide it isn't going to work for me/I don't like the instructor/my plans change?" If after your first tutoring meeting you decide that tutoring is not right for you, you may cancel you registration, or request a different tutor. There is only a $50 cancellation fee.
  • "I took a class with another test prep company, will I get confused by new techniques? Will the tutoring help me if I have already done a class?" Approximately 20% of Get Prepped tutoring students took a class from another prep company before taking our tutoring. We know how to deal with concepts and techniques you learned in those courses. Most importantly, your tutor will focus on your needs, not "teach to the middle."
  • "What if I need more than 15 hours of help?" Additional hours cost only $60/hour. You don't have to decide now. You can wait until the end of your 15 hour tutoring course before deciding if you want additional hours.
  • "What if I only want a few hours of tutoring?" We do offer hourly tutoring to Get Prepped students who have taken/will take a weekend class or multi-week class. The cost is also only $60/hr. If you have not taken or will not take a class from Get Prepped, we offer hourly tutoring on a case-by-case basis, at a cost of $120/hr with a two-hour minimum.

Student Testimonials:

"Hi Kevin--Just wanted to let you know how I did on the LSAT. Considering that when I started I was in the 60th percentiles, I'm pretty happy. I only missed 3 questions on the games, which, considering how poorly I was doing when I started with the games, is pretty noteworthy. OK no bragging. Thanks so much for your help. Look for yourself, here is the e-mail from LSAC: 'Dear J. GREENBERG, Your LSAT score is 171. The percentile rank is 99. - Law School Admission Council'" J. Greenberg, Atlanta, GA.

"Hi, I just received my LSAT scores yesterday -- a 168! Thanks for all your help getting ready for the test. It made a huge difference. I improved my score by 11 points, from the 157 I scored when I did self-preparation. You helped me recognize the patterns in the test and develop an overall strategy that made the LSAT seem manageable, not daunting." Kelcey Nichols, Boulder, CO

"Lynne was a great instructor. She was very knowledgeable, helpful and nice. She helped me improve 20 percentage points and bag a score of 167. Thanks." Jake Bush, San Diego, CA

"I am writing to let you know my LSAT score. I got a 165 and I'm in the 93rd percentile. You asked me to let you know how I felt during the test. I really felt confident because I had so much practice with each section. I felt that the program aided me a great deal... [It] helped me become comfortable with the LSAT material. The entire test became a sort of game for me. I enjoyed identifying which tactics to use for each question and then solving the problem. I was extremely comfortable with each question. They did throw a really hard game at me, but everyone I talked to had a tough time with that problem. It didn't affect my score too much. I'm really happy with my score. I feel that your program was beneficial for me because I took the studying seriously. The one thing I wish I knew ...was that it was going to take five hours... Other than that, everything was great. Thank you for your help." Jacque Paullin, Los Angeles, CA

"The tutoring service provided by your company was a great help in the preparation for taking the LSAT. Before I went through your tutoring service, preparing for the LSAT seem[ed] like it was going to be very difficult and confusing, even though I had read through the LSAT prep books on my own. Speaking with someone one on one and getting quick and easy answers to all the questions I had as well as having monitored practice of test questions was an invaluable experience. My LSAT scores put me in a great position for applying to law school and your tutoring services had a lot to do with that. Thanks!" Anonymous, San Diego, CA

"Hey, I just wanted to email you guys to tell you that my tutoring session was absolutely great! I really do feel more confident in taking the LSAT. And I needed that desperately. I was so nervous. I thought my instructor was very patient and did not make me feel stupid if I didn't quite grasp a concept." Randi Forbes, New York, NY

"I have some good news. I have heard back from the first 2 law schools I applied to. I know your LSAT prep must have made a impact! Mercer Law School (in Macon GA) is offering me a $40,500 scholarship over three years and a school up in MA is offering $54k. Wanted to sincerely thank you." J. Chin, Atlanta, GA

"Please accept my thanks for the outstanding job that your instructor did in tutoring me for the LSAT. He was knowledgeable and able to explain things clearly and quickly. He was also patient and encouraging and I never felt dumb in asking question after question." Liz Main, Los Angeles, CA

"My experience with LSAT was less than positive. Following the completion of one of the National review courses that prepares for LSAT, I started to look for a private tutoring. The reason was simple: I did not improve even a point after finishing that course. I accidentally came across Get Prepped, and, although I didn’t know anyone personally who could comment about Get Prepped, I decided to go ahead and sign up. Approach my tutor took was completely different right from the beginning. I explained my circumstances that English is my second language, I had moved to U.S. only 9 years ago, and that I never had taken a standardized test before. However, my teacher had assured me that he had helped students with the similar background before, and that improvement almost guaranteed. I was very satisfied with nine-points improvement on real LSAT. In addition, I am very thankful for the counseling and help with the personal statement that I received from Get Prepped. After getting a score that is still below average, thanks to my tutor for the tremendous help with personal statement, where he helped me to present my unique experiences and circumstances in the perspective that admission committees considers the most, I received acceptance letter from the school where median LSAT was 158". Yana Finkelstein, La Jolla, CA

"I liked that the private tutoring so focus was on what I needed to work on and not what everybody else needed work on." Deborah Ditson, Los Angeles, CA

"I especially liked that my tutor tailored it all to my needs. He didn't have to go by the book because he was willing to be flexible. Also, he quickly identified what I needed to work on, and I felt like I made progress quickly." Alexa Silver, Seattle, WA

"I had the private tutoring and really enjoyed being able to study what I needed most, every session." Kristy Militello, Atlanta, GA
